“The first thing that attracts attention is the extremely narrow composition of signatories.

This means that many NATO and EU allies of these states and those countries that are verbally trying to support Georgia did not want to subscribe to such an odious position.

This is what is called a call to nowhere.

It has no additional added value, ”Kosachev said.

In his opinion, this appeal "could have added value" if the signatories found the courage "to appeal to the Georgian authorities."

“With an appeal to repent for the crimes committed in August 2008 against the South Ossetian people.

And for many other crimes that Tbilisi committed against Tskhinvali and Sukhum in all previous years and decades, including the history of Soviet power and the pre-revolutionary period.

If there was a call to the Georgian authorities to recognize the right of the peoples of Abkhazia and South Ossetia to self-determination and to start a direct dialogue with these peoples, then added value would appear.

And only residents and citizens of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, who are the only source of making appropriate decisions, have the right to determine its size, ”concluded the vice-speaker of the Federation Council.

Earlier it was reported that seven countries called on Russia to reconsider the recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

It is noted that the document was signed by France, Ireland, Norway, Great Britain, USA, Albania and Estonia.

The authors of the document urge Moscow "not to hinder the creation of an international security mechanism."
